Environmental Policy Statement The Nicholls Colton Group provides a wide range of services relating to the construction sectors, including laboratory and in-situ testing of materials and soils and aggregates, analysis of contaminated soils and asbestos containing materials, specialist inspections of structures, environmental monitoring, drainage surveys, and geotechnical and geo-environmental consultancy services. The Nicholls Colton Group is aware that its day to day activities have an impact on the environment. As an environmentally responsible company we are committed to reducing the environmental impact of the company’s activities through the promotion of sustainable practices and the implementation of an Environmental Management System (EMS) that meets the requirements of ISO 14001:2015 Environmental objectives and targets are set to support the policy commitment to improving Environmental performance. Managers are responsible for environmental awareness of all staff in their departments. The significant environmental impacts of the company are:  Creation of waste from the offices, laboratory and site works  Depletion of natural resources through the use of energy, fuel and paper  Contribution to global warming from energy/fuel use in offices, laboratory, site operations and vehicles We are committed to continually improving environmental performance and reducing significant environmental impacts. This will be achieved through:  Effective waste management: reducing, re-using or recycling waste materials where possible  Use of materials from renewable resources where possible  A commitment to protecting the environment including prevention of pollution  More efficient energy and fuel consumption by reviewing and managing usage  Consulting with Local and National Government bodies, enforcing and regulatory authorities, and specialists to seek advice and assistance and considering public, local and interested parties opinions  Compliance with relevant environmental legislation, regulations, codes of practice, guidance and other customer and industry requirements  Using, where possible, suppliers and subcontractors with similar environmental views to our own  Appropriate training of employees to understand and contribute to our environmental commitment  Providing sufficient resources to maintain, develop and improve the EMS  Aiming to become carbon neutral by the end of 2019 This Policy will be brought to the attention of all employees through inductions and briefings and is displayed on noticeboards and the website. It will also be available to the public on request. The Environmental Policy is reviewed annually for continuing suitability. The policy has the full support of the Board of Directors and the Nicholls Colton Group Management Team.
